Referrals and FAQs
You do not require a referral to be seen at Marigold House Psychology. However, should you wish to claim Medicare rebates, you’ll need a valid referral and mental health care plan from your GP. We do not offer bulk billing. Please contact us for a fee schedule.
Referrals We Accept
Private billing and Private Health
You can see a psychologist at Marigold House Psychology privately, without a referral.
If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim a rebate depending on the level and type of cover you hold. Your insurer should be able to help with clarifying your policy and making claims.
A mental health treatment plan can be obtained from your General Practitioner (GP) which enables you to access up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year. Often your GP will provide a referral for an initial six sessions. Following the six sessions, a review will be undertaken and another four sessions may be available.
With a mental health treatment plan referral, you can claim a rebate of up to $93.35 (for a general psychologist) back from Medicare which will reduce out-of-pocket costs.
Please note, it is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid referral letter. Your referral letter should include:
A signed and dated letter
Patient’s symptoms/diagnosis
Number of treatment services referring for
Statement about whether the patient has a GP MHTP, shared plan, or a Psychiatrist assessment and management plan.
